Our Range of BSP Threaded Fittings

BSP stands for British Standard Pipe which is a family of technical standards for screw threads. These have been adopted internationally for connecting pipe and fittings by joining an external (male) thread with an internal (female) thread.

BSP fittings are among the most commonly used threaded fittings in New Zealand and can be found in a variety of industries, including food and beverage, pumping, petrochemical, marine, geothermal, agriculture, and machinery. They come in various metals and plastics and are found in everyday household items such as garden taps and plumbing fittings.

The Metal Company’s BSP fittings are investment casted and made of high-quality stainless steel 316, making them suitable for use in even the harshest environments, including marine purposes. Our comprehensive range of BSP fittings includes elbows, tees, hosetails, bushes, reducing connectors, sockets, nipples, plugs, caps, Mac Unions, and adapters

Our standard range of BSP fittings is designed to withstand a working pressure of 10bar at 250 degrees Celsius and comes with EN10201 Type 2.2 mill test certificates. For applications that require higher pressure or temperature, we also offer our range of 3000LBS BSP fittings, which are investment casted to meet ASME B16.11 standards and are thicker and heavier to ensure maximum durability and reliability.

While BSP fittings are commonly used in many industries, it’s important to note that they are not considered hygienic due to the possibility of bacteria being trapped in the thread. Therefore, they are not suitable for food and beverage lines that require hygienic conditions.

In addition to our range of BSP threaded fittings, BSP is also found in many of our stainless steel valves, such as our ball valves, globe valves, gate valves, check valves, mini ball valves, needle valves, and sampling valves. Our BSP camlocks, flanges, and press-fit adapters are also widely used. Some of our press-fit fittings are available with one end press-fit and the other end BSP, such as our press-fit male elbow, while some press-fit unions feature a male thread on one end.

When working with BSP fittings, it’s crucial to use thread tapes to create a tight seal and prevent leaks and seizing. Thread tape acts as a filler, filling the space between the threads and ensuring a tight fit. As the sole New Zealand stockist of Blue Monster and Mill-Rose thread tapes, we offer three different types of thread tape, including Blue Monster PTFE, Blue Monster Gas Guard, and Mill-Rose Nickel Anti-seize PTFE tape. We have another video discussing these available on our website.

FlexiFlow: Stainless Steel Braided Flexible Hose

The Metal Company stock both PTFE and stainless steel convoluted flexible braided hoses. We hold these in stock ready for dispatch over night. Because of their flexibility these hoses are great for reducing mechanical vibration, compensating for expansion and contraction or misalignment of pipework.

RapidPress Deburrer Tool | RapidPress Rundown

The RapidPress Deburrer Tool is designed for use on RapidPress tube from 15-54mm but can also be used on other stainless tubes or pipes. Watch Patrick discuss what the deburrer tool is and how to use it.

RapidPress Rotary Tube Cutter | RapidPress Rundown

The RapidPress rotary tube cutter is our preferred method of cutting tubes from 15mm – 76mm as it leaves a burr free edge on the external of the tube. Watch Patrick discuss how to use this tool.

RapidPress Expansion Bellows | RapidPress Rundown

When pipelines are heated or cooled it can cause them to expand or contract in length. If this is not compensated for it can put extreme pressure on welds or pressed joints resulting in failure. Watch Patrick discuss our RapidPress Expansion Bellows.
