EPDM Seals

EPDM seals are made from ethylene propylene diene monomer rubber, a long-lasting synthetic rubber that is suitable for a variety of applications.

EPDM seals are flexible and can withstand a temperature range of -20°C to +120°C. They are commonly used with potable water, heating, cooling and refrigeration circuits, and compressed air that doesn’t contain residual oil.

EPDM seals have excellent resistance to heat, water, and steam, as well as alkalis, mild acids, oxygenated solvents, ozone, and sunlight (UV). However, EPDM seals are not recommended for use with gasoline, petroleum oil and grease, or in hydrocarbon environments.

The Metal Company uses black EPDM rubber as the standard seal material on our RapidPress press-fit system, BSP Threaded Mac Unions and Tri Clover unions. Green EPDM Rubber stepped seals are available for RJT Fittings. EPDM is used for a range of valve seals including Mini Ball Valves, Sanitary Non-Return Valves, A and E Series Butterfly Valves, Sanitary Ball Valves and Cast Iron Butterfly Valves.
