About

Tri Clover Unions or otherwise known as a Tri Clamp Union, are a sanitary union typically used in food and beverage applications where hygienic lines are needed.

Tri clover unions are popular due to ease of use  and the ability to quickly connect or disconnect  a process line.

Tri Clover Union consists of four parts; the ferrules, the seal and the clamp. The two ferrules have a grooved face to seat the seal in between, which are then held together by a clamp.

The seal fills the crevice between the ferrules creating a hygienic joint so product or bacteria can’t build up and create any issues.

The Metal Company supplies butt-welded Tri Clover Ferrules And Tri Clover Expansion FerrulesButt weld ferrules are typically purge welded for hygienic applications, while Tri Clover Expansion Ferrules slip over the tube and require just one weld to create a hygienic joint. The Metal Company also has a variety of adapters and fittings pre welded with Tri Clovers available to make your install easier. We also have valves & sight glasses available with Tri Clover ends.

There are two types of clamps to complete the union, our standard tri clover clamp and our heavy-duty clamp. The standard clamp is held together by a single pin and a twist-to-tighten handle. The heavy-duty tri-clover clamp allows a bolt secured on both sides of the clamp to reduce the ease of releasing the ferrules.

Tri Clover ferrules are available as shortmedium or long ferrules. This relates to the length of the buttweld piece, meaning you can use a short for tight spaces and a long where you would like a bit more room for welding.

Our Range of Stainless Steel Hosetails

Watch Tristan discuss the difference between 2 very distinctly different barbed and swaged hosetails along with our pre-fabricated options.

Concentric vs Eccentric Reducers | Technical Tuesday

Concentric and eccentric reducers are used to join two different sizes of pipe or tube. Concentric reducers derive their name from their cone-like shape and have ends on the same axis. Whereas eccentric reducers have a straight side and a cone shaped side. Watch Morgan discuss the difference between these reducers.

How Do Inline Non-Return Valves Work? | Technical Tuesday

Inline non-return valves are a type of check valve which is spring actioned for flow control, meaning the flow can only go one way. Watch Morgan discuss how these work.

What Are Tri Clover Adapters?

Tri clovers are commonly used in the Food & Beverage industries in New Zealand. These adapters are designed to make it easier for you to use Tri Clovers in different configurations, without the need for welding parts together. Watch Emma discuss our range of tri clover adapters.

How To Measure Tri Clover Ferrules | Technical Tuesday

Tri Clovers are measured according to the tube size they fit, It is often mistaken that the outside diameter of the flange end of the ferrule is interpreted as the size of the tri clover, but that is not the case. Watch Huntley discuss.

Tri Clover Expansion Ferrules Explained | Technical Tuesday

An expansion ferrule can be identified by the ridges on the inside of the ferrule. It also slips over the dairy tube rather than butt welding to it like a normal ferrule. Watch Huntley explain more in the video above.
