Like a good old-fashioned storybook, butcheries have long been a tradition of the Heller family who emigrated from Germany to Arrowtown, New Zealand in the 1880’s. Over 100 years later, descendent Todd Heller began a butchery in New Brighton, Christchurch.

As years went by, the butchery began supplying supermarkets and soon outgrew the factory. The Hellers relocated the factory to Kaiapoi, north of Christchurch, and sent their meats throughout the South Island.

Today, Hellers Ltd is New Zealand’s leading brand of sausages, bacon, ham and smallgoods, while also selling precooked sausages into Australian supermarkets.

The Project Engineer at Hellers factory struggled with service and availability from Christchurch suppliers to provide stainless steel materials for maintenance and expansion at the Kaiapoi factory.

The Metal Company were approached and have since regularly supplied stainless steel fittings and stainless steel flat bar and tube by the skid. To make the process seamless for Hellers, the site address was customised to be delivered to the Engineering Store. Also, the Project Engineer is emailed a courier Track & Trace link every time an order is dispatched from The Metal Company warehouse. This allows customers to keep updated with progress on the overnight delivery.

Like The Metal Company does for Hellers, fittings and 2-metre lengths can be sent on an overnight courier to all locations in the South Island and longer lengths average 1-3 days transport time. By supplying to all of New Zealand, access to stainless steel fittings and long lengths has been made easier through The Metal Company’s effective service.
